Community Outreach and Education

Building Connections

At Urban Habitat, our mission goes beyond creating native landscapes. We work to restore South Florida’s ecosystems through community education, hands-on workshops, and public engagement. We partner with schools, neighborhoods, parks, and local organizations to help people of all ages reconnect with nature, learn about native plants, and understand the importance of biodiversity.

Together, we’re growing a more resilient South Florida.

Contact us to schedule a workshop, tree planting, or guided nature walk.

Educational Programs

Lectures & Classroom Visits

We provide engaging, age-appropriate lessons for students and youth groups on topics such as:

  • the importance of native plants

  • pollinators and their habitats

  • soil, water, and local ecosystems

  • how to create wildlife-friendly yards

Our school programs introduce children to the plants and animals that make Florida unique — and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

Community Events & Hands-On Learning

Tree Planting & Habitat Restoration

We lead community tree-plantings, native understory restoration, and neighborhood habitat rebuilding projects. Participants learn practical ecological skills while directly contributing to a healthier landscape.

Guided Nature Walks

Our guided walks in local parks and natural areas teach participants how to identify native plants, understand local wildlife interactions, and recognize signs of ecological health. These tours highlight South Florida’s threatened species — including the Atala butterfly and native pines — and show how urban communities can help them thrive.
